People notified that their Social Security number was potentially involved in Hillcrest Convalescent Center’s June 2024 data incident have a live settlement choice. Eligible Group 1 class members may request an expected $50 cash payment, but the claim must be filed online or postmarked by August 26, 2026. The word “expected” matters because settlement participation and administration can affect the final amount.
The cash option is limited to the Social Security number group
The settlement divides living U.S. residents whose private information was implicated into two groups. Group 1 consists of people whose Social Security numbers were among the information potentially affected; Group 2 covers class members whose affected information did not include a Social Security number. The administrator’s official claim page offers the alternative cash payment only to Group 1.
A Group 1 member choosing cash does not need to document a dollar loss, but the election replaces the other available settlement benefit. The page describes the payment as expected to be $50, not guaranteed at exactly $50. A claimant should therefore compare the simplicity of cash with the value of credit monitoring or reimbursement before making the selection.
Documented losses can be worth more than the expected cash
All settlement class members may seek reimbursement of documented out-of-pocket losses tied to the incident, up to $2,500. The covered period runs from June 27, 2024, through August 26, 2026. Examples on the claim form include identity-theft losses, credit-monitoring fees, costs to freeze or unfreeze credit, replacement identification and postage used to contact financial institutions.
This path requires proof. Bank statements, receipts and other records should connect the expense to the data incident and show that no third party already reimbursed it. Personal notes may explain another document but are not sufficient by themselves. Someone with a provable loss above $50 should total the records before defaulting to the easier cash election.
Two years of monitoring is another available benefit
The settlement also offers two years of CyEx Identity Defense Complete, including credit-file monitoring, dark-web scanning, public-record monitoring and identity-theft insurance. That service is available to both groups. The administrator’s settlement FAQs explain the available benefits and class definitions in more detail…
