Tomato prices hit 8-year high, costing Huntsville pizza restaurant thousands

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Huntsville restaurants are taking a big hit as tomato prices skyrocket.

The average tomato price in the U.S. has increased by more than 25% since January, up to $2.25 a pound, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s the most expensive tomatoes have been in eight years.
