CUMBERLAND, Ind. — A Cumberland man and woman face multiple felony charges after police say they used belts and paddles to batter children under their care.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Amelia Floyd-Waldrup faces the following preliminary charges:
- Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Bodily Injury (Level 5 Felony)
- Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury (Level 5 Felony)
- Three counts of Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Bodily Injury (Level 5 Felony)
Meanwhile, Juan Stallworth has been preliminarily charged with two counts of domestic battery and battery resulting in serious bodily injury in connection with the child abuse case.
Investigation, arrest
The investigation into Floyd-Waldrup began on April 16 when an officer with the Cumberland Metropolitan Police Department responded to an emergency room at Riley Hospital in response to a delayed report of child battery.
