One of the country’s oldest candy stores is found right here in Indiana, and it was recently named the best in the United States.
You are never too old to indulge in candy or even to be excited to visit a candy store. Granted, you can find candy at virtually any kind of store now. However, nothing beats going to a candy store to see all of the delicious treats that they have to offer. Most of these stores are typically found in malls across the country, and you can almost bet that when you walk by them, the kids will always ask to go inside. When you do, it’s quite likely that the kids and you will walk out with some tasty and unique candy.
Recently, USA Today released its results for the Best Candy Store in America. These stores were nominated by a panel of experts and voted by readers as the best in the nation for the 10 Best Reader’s Choice Awards. As it turns out, one historic Indiana candy store took home the number-one spot.

Indiana is Home to the Best Candy Store in the United States
According to USA Today’s 10 Best Reader’s Choice Awards, the best candy store in America is Schimpff’s Confectionary. The Schimpff family has been making candy in the Jeffersonville, Indiana, area since 1871. G.A. Schimpff’s Confectionery officially opened in 1891 and is one of the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned candy businesses in the United States. And the coolest part? The Schimpff family still owns the store to this day. They continue to make the classic candy that you know and love to this day, and even have a candy museum.
