Indiana DNR explains new boating laws ahead of 4th of July weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Heading into what’s usually a busy weekend on the water, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is reminding boaters about a new law on the books.

The DNR now requires boat operators to wear a kill switch cord; Officer Gannery Htoo says the Lanyard Law is in place to prevent accidents.

“We’re expecting you to wear it, especially since the law is so new this year; our goal is to educate and make it aware to the public,” Htoo says…
