HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — An inmate has been sentenced to 50 years for beating another prisoner to death at the Plainfield Correctional Facility in what prosecutors called a “brutal assault.”
The Hendricks County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Robert Allen Miller received a 50-year sentence in the Indiana Department of Correction after a jury trial concluded with him being found guilty of the following:
- Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 2 Felony)
- Aggravated Battery (Level 3 Felony)
The jury also added the Habitual Offender enhancement when overseeing the case. During the hearing, jurors were presented with evidence that showed Miller targeted Jeffrey Clouser in July 2024, who HCPO described as a “medically vulnerable inmate who relied on assistance from others due to significant health issues.” Clouser was 60 years old.
A combination of surveillance footage and witness accounts revealed that Miller entered Clouser’s cell, where he remained for several minutes. When he eventually emerged from the cell, HCPO said he was observed with a “visibly swollen hand” after he left. He was also observed carrying Clouser’s personal belongings…
