Man accused of killing Indy woman for $15,000 in 2023 murder-for-hire plot

INDIANAPOLIS — Nearly three years after the shooting death of a woman in southwest Indy, a second suspect has been charged in connection with her death. Police now allege that the woman’s killing was part of a murder-for-hire plot that crossed state lines.

Erica Pedroza was shot and killed on July 22, 2023, in her home along the 8600 block of Orchard Grove Lane. The woman was found dead in her bed after suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was 36.

Months after Pedroza’s death, police charged her husband, Seth Smith-Robinson, in connection with her murder. U.S. Marshals tracked Robinson down in Tennessee and taken into custody. He was later extradited back to Indianapolis on murder charges…
