It’s been quite a whirlwind in data center news recently. For the past year, IndyStar has reported on multiple proposed data centers in Indianapolis, watching as rumored developments become approved projects. IndyStar has also kept tabs on other noteworthy centers opening across the state and the many counties, including Marion County, that are taking steps to put a pause on approving additional projects.

Indianapolis data centers
So far this year, Indianapolis development officials gave three data center developers the green light to move forward with construction.
Martindale Brightwood
Metrobloks, a California data center developer, asked for a rezoning at 2505 N. Sherman Drive in Martindale Brightwood. In May, the Indianapolis City-County Council approved the development, meaning the company can now build on the site.
However, Metrobloks applied for tax incentives, which are ongoing and in discussion now. At a preliminary meeting in mid-July, the Indianapolis Economic Development Inc. offered up to $56 million in tax breaks to the company, but the city’s director overseeing economic incentives said her department would not support the package and asked IEDI to revoke the offer…
