INDIANAPOLIS — A newborn baby is said to be in stable condition after IMPD officers found the child abandoned on Indy’s far east side Friday night. IMPD officers were called to check on the welfare of a child near Lace Bark Lane and Long Wharf Drive. They found the baby abandoned in the tree line.
It’s unclear how long the baby was here or who called the police, but Monica Kelsey, CEO and founder of Safe Haven Baby Boxes, said it’s clear there were other alternatives to safely surrender the child.
