INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police have confirmed that one of two officers shot during an exchange of gunfire last week on the city’s east side was actually shot by a fellow officer. The alleged suspect in the incident was also killed in the shooting.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed the news Thursday, stating that investigators believe an “officer was struck by gunfire from another officer.” In total, two officers were injured while exchanging gunfire with an armed suspect who was later pronounced dead.
The shooting
IMPD officers were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. last Wednesday to the 8000 block of East 37th Street after a 911 caller reported an ongoing disturbance with an armed male. Upon arrival, officers encountered 21-year-old Dalys Scott Kohl Jett.
