INDIANAPOLIS — Next week, gas prices across Indiana will surge by another 60 cents per gallon as the state’s gas tax holiday ends.
“It’s heartbreaking,” Indianapolis resident Eugene Boyd said. “We never know how much we’re going to spend on gas on a weekly basis, and that’s a big jump.”
Gov. Mike Braun (R-Indiana) has suspended the state’s gasoline use tax every month since April, and has kept the state’s gas excise tax suspended since May. However, the state statute allowing him to do so only gives him that unilateral authority for 120 days—in other words, until early August…
