INDIANA – Important changes are coming for Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) members. Beginning January 1, 2027, Indiana will implement work requirements for most HIP members ages 19 to 64.
Human service providers, community partners, and individuals enrolled in HIP should begin preparing now to ensure a smooth transition.
Under the new policy, HIP members who are not exempt will be required to complete 80 hours of qualifying activities per month. Eligible activities include employment, job training, community service, internships, volunteering, and part-time education. Members may combine multiple activities to meet the monthly requirement.
One key detail is the state’s three-month lookback period. Individuals applying for HIP in January 2027 must demonstrate compliance during October, November, and December 2026.
