INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Flash flooding returns as a primary threat to central Indiana Wednesday, with rain and storms capable of producing 1 to 3 inches of rainfall through tonight.
A slow-moving cold front and elevated moisture levels will trigger scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. While the severe weather threat remains isolated, favorable wind shear could support organized multicell structures capable of damaging wind gusts or hail.

Patchy fog will reduce visibility across rural areas of central Indiana, especially outside the Indianapolis metro . Expect low visibility conditions through mid morning before fog lifts.

Storms are expected to produce rainfall totals ranging from 1 to 3 inches. The setup favors development of training storms—repeated waves of precipitation moving over the same locations—which may result in localized flash flooding, particularly in areas where the ground remains saturated from recent rain.
