INDIANAPOLIS — Felony charges have been filed against an Indianapolis man following a shooting investigation that resulted in a gun bust on the city’s near east side.
Court records claim police seized six guns and other accessories from inside a home on Lasalle Street. The bust reflects a daily effort by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
In a neighborhood near Lasalle and East Michigan Street, just across the street from a women’s shelter, IMPD got multiple calls of shots being fired Saturday night.
One officer on scene outside the home on Lasalle was close enough to hear an AR-style rifle being loaded.
“The officer then looked over a privacy fence and saw the suspect standing with the rifle in his hands,” said IMPD Lt. Mark Rand.
Police say that the suspect quickly ran inside the home but later surrendered. After serving a search warrant, officers recovered a table full of weapons and more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition.
“Some of the magazines were 60 and 100-round drum magazines that were loaded,” said Rand. “This is just solid police work, getting 6 guns out of the hands of someone who is clearly dangerous.”
