PARKE COUNTY, Ind. — Three people were hospitalized after a campfire accident at Raccoon Lake State Recreation Area over the weekend.
According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, a camper at Raccoon Lake attempted to rekindle a fire on Saturday night by pouring gasoline on it. The gas can the person was using ultimately ignited and spilled onto another camper.
Per the DNR, three people suffered severe burns during the incident. All of the injured individuals were transported from the scene to Indianapolis hospitals via medical helicopter for treatment.
The DNR did not provide any additional updates on the burned individuals’ conditions. The agency has not yet released any other information on the incident.
