Northwest Indianapolis coffee shop cleaning up after overnight break-in

INDIANAPOLIS — Baristas for MOTW Coffee and Pastries arrived to open the business Wednesday, April 15, and were greeted with a shattered glass front door and an empty cash register.

“I hope everybody’s okay. I hope nobody’s hurt. That was the first thing that came (to mind),” said Shamaas Nyazee, the part-owner. “I hope our baristas are safe. I hope nothing happened to any customers because I didn’t know exactly when it happened. I just saw the picture and then my mind just started racing.”

Nyazee checked the security cameras from the West 38th Street business and saw someone inside just before 3:30 a.m., then leaving out the broken door. He estimated for the police report that $300 was taken but isn’t sure exactly how much was in the cash register…
