Fullerton weighs returning $126,121 to OCTA to revive stalled Bastanchury Road widening

The Fullerton City Council is set to decide on August 18 whether to return $126,121 to the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA). This repayment, according to city staff, is necessary to secure approximately $2.7 million in regional funding for a long-stalled Bastanchury Road widening project.

The funds in question were part of a 2011 grant for the Bastanchury Road Widening and Restriping Project, which aims to widen the road to three lanes in each direction between Harbor Boulevard and Fairway Isles Drive. The project also includes improvements such as a new median island, drainage enhancements, and landscaping.

The project began in 2004 with KFM Engineering managing preliminary designs. However, it faced delays and was abandoned in 2006 due to rising construction costs.
