JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Red, white and blue filled the Pearl Apartments in Jackson Friday afternoon — dozens of residents were treated to food, music and fellowship by the Better Men Society, a local nonprofit dedicated to giving back to the community.
Chris Cooper with the Better Men Society said, “Our organization always looks out for the elderly. We try to make ourselves tender to them because we know they’re on fixed income. And also, we try not to forget about them because of, we know they’re at a home where they’re being, you know, coming together as a community, but we want to make sure that they know that they’re loved by outsiders.”
The Better Men Society teamed up with Pearl Apartments management to give residents a sense of community — complete with a hot meal and a DJ. Cooper, co-founder of the Better Men Society, said love was the driving force behind the event…
