JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Seventy-four dogs were rescued from a mobile trailer off Highway 80 and Whiting Road in West Jackson over the weekend, according to Cheshire Abbey Animal Rescue. Every dog had mange. One did not survive.
Chrissy Cheshire, who leads Cheshire Abbey Animal Rescue, said her team received a tip after a welfare check was conducted in the area. When they arrived, they found 74 dogs crammed inside the trailer in dangerous heat.
“It was nasty. They were all in their own feces and urine, all suffering from skin conditions. It was just very sad,” Cheshire said.
Cheshire said some dogs were found outside the trailer attempting to find shade. One puppy was unresponsive when rescuers arrived…
