JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson firefighters have responded to multiple fires at the Chapel Ridge apartment complex, even though the property is not supposed to be occupied.
Officials said the complex has become a hub for squatters, trash and fires. The Jackson Fire Department (JFD) has responded to about six fires at Chapel Ridge since July 2026.
“As firefighters, we’re trained to just take one call at a time. And so regardless, if this repetitive call with one that’s becoming redundant over a period of time, we take every call as if is our first opportunity to mitigate this situation,” said Jackson Fire Chief RaSean Thomas.
