JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Hinds County District Attorney Brad McCullouch announced two brothers pled guilty to manslaughter and shooting into a vehicle in connection to a December 2024 homicide.
Authorities said Jermaine Benfield, 18, and Jeremares Bracey, 21, were both arrested in connection to the shooting death of Delveon Russell.
Suspect dies following domestic dispute in Natchez
According to McCullouch, Russell was with friends at the Jubilee gas station on West Northside Drive on December 9, 2024, when shots were fired from a black Ford Flex. Investigators said store surveillance video showed a passenger exit the vehicle and continue firing toward the gas station, striking Russell.
Police said Flock camera footage helped investigators identify the vehicle’s license plate. When detectives contacted the owner, Benfield’s mother, McCullouch said she told investigators he had the vehicle that night.
Each defendant was sentenced to 20 years to serve for manslaughter and five years to serve for shooting into a vehicle. The sentences will un consecutively, for a total of 25 years to serve for each defendant…
