JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police said a man barricaded himself inside a home, leading to an hours-long standoff.
The incident began around 6:45 p.m. on September 28, 2026, in the area of Dianne Drive. Jackson Police Chief Dr. RaShall Brackney said officers were in the area to following up on leads in connection to shootings that occurred over the weekend and to interview witnesses.
Jury split on verdict in manslaughter case against two former Capitol police officers
Brackney said one of the investigators came into contact with a man in order to have a conversation with him. She said the man ran into the home. According to Brackney, the man is an estranged or divorced family member who was supposed to drop off three children at the home.
The police chief said the man barricaded himself inside with three children. Throughout the night, two children were released from the home.
Brackney said entered the home and encountered Christopher Walker, 44. As of 7:00 a.m. on September 29, 2026, the final child, a 13-year-old, was recovered unharmed…
