Jackson city leaders mull ways to fill vacancies in Public Works

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Jackson city leaders are weighing ways to boost staffing in Public Works, which has 24 vacancies and only one engineer.

Staffing was one of several topics discussed by the City Council at a Public Works Committee meeting on Monday, with members asking Director Lorenzo Anderson and other officials about his plans to fill those roles.

“It’s not fair to Mr. Anderson to be the one-arm paper hanger trying to do this job,” Ward 1 Councilman Ashby Foote said. “And so, I think it’s really critical that we find staff that would be good assistants to Mr. Anderson.”…
