Millsaps Track and Field Sets 16 Personal Bests at Rhodes 7-Way Meet

The Millsaps College track and field teams posted 16 personal bests and won four events at the Rhodes 7-Way Meet Saturday at Crain Field in Memphis, Tennessee, according to school officials.

On the men’s side, distance runners led the way. Sophomore Greer Hernandez set a school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15 minutes, 15.96 seconds, finishing first among 17 runners and beating the field by over 16 seconds, school officials said. Hernandez’s time improved his own school record by nearly 19 seconds.

Freshman Benjamin Sylve finished fourth in the 800 meters in 1:58.65, just 0.3 seconds shy of the school record. Dallas Stricker, also a freshman, became the fourth-fastest runner in program history after placing second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:25.27. Sean Wyers, another freshman, won the discus with a throw of 41.91 meters and finished third in the hammer throw at 30.88 meters…
