JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Jackson city leaders continue to say a controversial water authority act would interfere with a federal judge’s ability to oversee the city’s water and sewer systems as part of two ongoing lawsuits.
Late Monday, the city filed its response to U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate’s request for additional details on the Metro Jackson Water Authority Act and how it could infringe on the court’s jurisdiction.
In responses filed earlier that day, the federal government, JXN Water, and the state said the law would not infringe, with JXN Water calling it a “non-mandatory option” for the court to consider once the federal takeover ends…
