Candlelight vigil honors Mississippi fallen officers during National Police Week

JACKSON — Law enforcement officers, public officials and families from across the state gathered Tuesday evening in Jackson for the 16th Annual Fallen Officers Memorial Candlelight Vigil honoring Mississippi officers who died in the line of duty.

Hosted by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office in partnership with the Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police and the Mississippi Sheriffs’ Association, the annual ceremony marked National Police Week with prayers, music, tributes and a 21-gun salute remembering fallen officers and supporting their families.

“This vigil is a reminder of the lives of the heroes who have fallen; the men and women who spent their days in service to their friends, neighbors and even strangers, always with a sense of purpose, duty and honor,” Attorney General Lynn Fitch said. “We will always remember their sacrifice.”
