Emergency crews responded Sunday to a deadly crash on the southbound on-ramp from St. Johns Bluff Road onto I-295 East in Jacksonville’s Sandalwood neighborhood, authorities said. The wreck shut down the ramp completely and backed up traffic on nearby streets for hours as first responders worked the scene. Officials have not released how many vehicles were involved or the identity of the person killed.
According to First Coast News, state troopers confirmed the crash was fatal and placed it on the southbound on-ramp from St. Johns Bluff Road to I-295 E. Traffic alert service FL511 reported the ramp closure and that all southbound lanes of St. Johns Bluff Road were blocked in the Sandalwood area while crews cleared the scene.
