Newark man sentenced to 45 years for Irvington attacks on woman and child

⚖️ A Newark man was sentenced to 45 years for violent attacks on a woman and an 11-year-old boy.

IRVINGTON — A Newark man convicted of violently attacking two people who had simply gone out to walk their dogs could remain behind bars until 2073.

Caream Davis, 46, has been sentenced to 45 years in state prison, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The sentence will not begin for another two years because Davis must first finish a separate sentence for violating his parole. If he serves all the prison time ahead of him, Davis will be in his early 90s before he is released back into society.

“We hope that this sentence provides the victims with some measure of closure and also allows them and their fellow residents of Irvington to feel much safer, knowing that this defendant is no longer in the community,” Essex County Assistant Prosecutor Logan Teisch said…
