Three firefighters injured as FDNY battles early morning blaze on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Three firefighters were injured after a fire broke just after midnight Monday in a home near the Staten Island Expressway.

The fire started 12:10 a.m. at 1854 Clove Road, between Targee Street and Oder Avenue in Concord, according to a spokesperson for the FDNY.

The blaze started in the basement of a 2.5 story private dwelling located next door to the Engine 160/Rescue 5 firehouse.

In total, 21 units, around 79 fire and EMS personnel, responded and the flames were brought under control in less than an hour, at 12:42 a.m. according to the spokesperson…
