Battle Creek police search for man suspected of shooting at his mother

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Investigators are searching for a man suspected of shooting at his mother in her own bedroom the night of Aug. 4, according to the Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD).

Officers were called to the home on Cherry Street near Popular Street around 11 p.m. after the 43-year-old mother reported her 27-year-old son had just shot at her, though she was not hit, police said.

The woman told investigators he came into her bedroom and pointed the gun at her, firing one round before running away from the scene, according to BCPD.

Search teams were able to find the gun that was possibly used in the shooting — which was previously reported stolen through the Michigan State Police Marshall Post — but they have not found the 27-year-old son yet.
