Police arrested a 21-year-old after seizing five illegally-owned guns in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Police arrested a 21-year-old after police seizing five illegally-owned guns on Thursday.

Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT) officers said they arrested a 21-year-old Kalamazoo resident on Thursday after an illegal weapons possession investigation revealed five illegally-owned guns including a semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine and a Glock handgun with a high-capacity magazine.

Investigators initially made contact with the 21-year-old, who has a felony conviction, near Miller Road and Cameron Street and arrested them after a brief foot chase. A search of their person and residence uncovered the illegally-owned weapons, officers said.
