KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Vandal(s) cut a Verizon fiber cable, causing a service outage on Thursday.

Verizon services are down for customers in Kalamazoo County including Portage, Galesburg, Climax Township, Oshtemo Township, Vicksburg, Schoolcraft, Richland, Augusta, Kalamazoo Township and Scotts on Thursday as of at least 10 a.m., according to a Verizon spokesperson and the Verizon network status site.
The cut cable was an act of vandalism, the spokesperson said, though how many people were involved has not yet been announced.
Their engineers are aware of the situation and working to resolve it quickly, the spokesperson said. The estimated time of restoration per the network status site is Thursday at 10:06 p.m.
