Severe damage reported throughout Kalamazoo County following high winds

WEST MICHIGAN — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said they are responding to several incidents involving downed trees and powerlines caused by Monday afternoon’s high winds.

Some of those downed trees have fallen on homes, trapping people inside. KDPS said two of those homes have occupants that are being assessed by first responders.

A tree fell on a house on Hoffman Court in the Vine neighborhood, causing the roof to collapse. Police said one person was extricated from the home and taken to the hospital…
