Voters to decide on property tax that’s funding 9% of Mattawan schools budget

MATTAWAN, MI — Mattawan Consolidated School District is asking voters to renew an operating millage on the upcoming May 5 ballot.

The operating millage provides $4 million in revenue, just over 9% of the district’s general fund budget, according to bond information on the district website.

The millage rate up for renewal is 19.4227 mills levied on non-homestead properties. If passed, the millage would last for four years through 2030…
