Off-duty KCPD officer pulls child out of fiery car wreck

TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) – An off-duty officer for the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department saved a 7-year-old boy by pulling him out of a wreck on I-70 earlier this month, according to KCPD.

Officer Yul Bean has worked for KCPD for two years. Police say Bean saw the crash while driving west of Topeka and then smashed the window of one of the cars to pull the boy out.

The two vehicles involved in the wreck were a semi-truck and a Buick Envision. The driver and front passenger of the Buick were both killed in the wreck, but the boy was airlifted to a hospital in Kansas City.

The boy’s current condition is unknown…
