Johnson County cancels World Cup watch parties Thursday due to forecasted storms

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Johnson County, Kansas, has canceled its World Cup watch parties Thursday at Theatre in the Park due to the threat of storms.

“After consulting with our professional weather partners, we have been advised that the incoming storm will be too heavy for us to safely hold our watch parties today,” organizers said on Facebook. “Because of this, tonight’s Johnson County Watch Party on Thursday, June 25, has been cancelled.”

The canceled watch parties include:

  • Tunisia vs. Netherlands – 6 p.m.
  • USA vs. Turkiye – 9 p.m.

“The safety of our guests, vendors, volunteers and staff is our top priority,” organizers said. “We’re disappointed to miss tonight’s matches together, but we hope you’ll join us for another watch party soon.”

You can still attend watch parties at the venue on Saturday:

  • Panama vs. England – 4 p.m.
  • Colombia vs. Portugal – 6:30 p.m.
  • Algeria vs. Austria – 9 p.m.
