KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The rain didn’t stop a 4th of July tradition in Gladstone.
Community members gathered at Atkins Johnson Farm and Museum for a public reading of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.
Saturday was the fourth anniversary of the event and honors the nation’s 250th anniversary.
“The promise of democracy and a free government has to do with citizens being informed and involved,” said Jim Oldebecken. “And we thought it would be a good idea because some people are not…have never read the Declaration…We have to remember that those that gave us this country went through incredible sacrifice and difficulties, and they didn’t give up.“…
