A Kansas City, Missouri, man has received a federal prison sentence for unlawfully possessing a firearm and body armor despite previous felony convictions.
Marcos L. Fernandez, 39, was sentenced to 87 months, or seven years and three months, in federal prison without the possibility of parole. Chief U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes also imposed a concurrent 36-month prison sentence for possession of body armor by a violent felon.
The charges stemmed from a traffic stop conducted by North Kansas City Police Department officers on May 17, 2025. Fernandez was riding as a passenger when officers noticed a firearm on the floorboard on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Both occupants were ordered out of the vehicle…
