An Orlando woman has pleaded guilty for her role in a mortgage fraud scheme targeting financial institutions, federal prosecutors announced.
Kimberly Williams, 44, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud. She faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not yet been set, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.
Fake paystubs used to secure fraudulent loans
Court documents show Williams, a co-conspirator and others conspired to create and execute a mortgage fraud scheme directed at financial institutions.
To ensure that otherwise unqualified borrowers obtained mortgage loans, Williams created fictitious paystubs that falsely indicated borrowers worked at specific companies for certain periods of time and earned income they did not actually make.
