Knoxville Weather: Strong storm potential Monday before dry weather

Strong storms are possible Monday afternoon and evening before dry weather settles in.

  • Tonight: (30%) Heavy downpours early. Patchy fog is possible. Low: 65°.
  • Monday:(40%) Scattered showers and storms. Some storms could be severe. High: 82°.
  • Monday night:(20%) Stray shower/storm early and then dry and cooler. Low: 60°.
  • Tuesday: (20%) Slight chance mainly east. Most stay dry with a breeze. High: 79°.

A few showers will be possible heading through Sunday night, but the rain looks light to moderate at best. Low temperatures will fall into the middle 60s with patchy fog possible in areas that see clearing.

If the storms move in, they will carry a damaging wind (65 MPH) and a large hail threat (1″ – 1.5″). Heavy downpours and frequent lightning would also be a concern.

After the storm chances, a reinforcing shot of drier and cooler air will move in on Monday evening leading to a crisp overnight. Low temperatures will fall into the upper 50s and lower 60s…
