COMMIT: Minnesota earns a commitment from Tennessee defensive end Kelsey Rose Jr.

Minnesota has been on a recruiting tear here in May, as PJ Fleck and the Golden Gophers staff have already received six commitments this month as they continue to close on more of their top targets. Now with ‘Summer Splash’ official visit weekend #1 in full swing, the recruiting momentum hasn’t stopped as the Gophers had 23 official visitors on campus this weekend.

One defender who had been a priority was Tennessee defensive end Kelsey Rose Jr. The Gophers offered just over two weeks ago, becoming his second Big Ten offer when they joined Northwestern. Here’s some of what Rose told GopherIllustrated heading into his visit.

“Me and rush ends coach Steve Stanard talk a lot. He tells me about the program, and we talk about me how diverse I am. Sometimes we call just to check on each other. Just building a good relationship. I’m looking forward to getting around the Gopher players to ask questions and ask what I can do to improve my game, but I’m very excited to see what it’s like because they’re in my top two. I’m looking to see if it can my home.”…
