KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Drivers heading to Downtown Knoxville this weekend should know about some events that will be prompting road closures between Friday and Sunday.

On Thursday, the City of Knoxville reported the closures for Old City Knoxville’s Rhinestone Fest and the Bijou Jubilee. The closures, which the city said “dancing in the street will be facilitated by,” are:

  • South Central Street between Jackson and Willow Avenues will close to vehicles at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 5. The road will reopen at 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 7.
  • Gay Street between Cumberland Avenue and Main Street will close from 5 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.

On Friday and Saturday, Rhinestone Fest will be celebrating everything Dolly Parton with art, music, history, food and fun. Started in 2021 as “Dolly Fest,” Rhinestone Fest organizers are encouraging visitors to dress up in their “Dolly-best,” and enjoy the block party Friday, as well as shopping with a variety of Dolly-themed vendors, music and more throughout the weekend.
