BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a vehicle of interest after a woman was struck and killed while riding her bicycle Thursday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m., the sheriff’s office responded to the 3800 block of Old Niles Ferry Road because of a report a woman was found lying in a ditch and badly injured.

Medics with AMR Ambulance Service called for a Life Star helicopter after arriving at the scene, and the woman was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where she was pronounced dead a short time later. The sheriff’s office identified the woman as Joyce Frey, 70, of Maryville.
BCSO said its Traffic Safety Unit is investigating Frey’s death, which they believe is the result of a hit-and-run. Deputies are asking the public for help locating a vehicle of interest, which they say is a black or dark blue newer model GMC full-size pickup truck…
