‘Life back in downtown’ Clinton’s Market Street reopens after $9.9M revitalization

CLINTON, Tenn. (WATE) —After more than a year, a major revitalization project in downtown Clinton is finally complete. Market Street has reopened following a $9.9 million project that has modernized the area while preserving the heart of the historic district.

Market Street is home to Clinton’s shops, restaurants, and the biannual Clinch River Antique Festival, making it one of the city’s busiest destinations. Now, businesses are bouncing back after months of construction, and leaders believe the improvements will help shape downtown’s future.

“During construction, it was very tough. For a long time. We had a trench in front of our store, so people couldn’t even use the front door, and people had to use the back door. Foot traffic definitely died down. There were some days that we barely saw anybody. It was just- It was a really tough period,” explained Bailey Bowling, a sales associate at Joy in the Dawn, which has called Market Street home since 2022…
