CLINTON, Tenn. (WATE) — Jason Dockery has been convicted on all counts after a 2023 shooting that left Shysti Mayberry, a mother of four, dead and sent authorities on a two-day manhunt.
Following a two-week trial, a jury convicted Dockery on nine charges, including first-degree murder, on Wednesday; 7th Judicial District Attorney General Dave Clark’s office announced. The other charges he was convicted of were:
- Two counts of first-degree murder in perpetration of kidnapping;
- Three counts of especially aggravated kidnapping;
- One count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony;
- One count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon; and
- One count of reckless endangerment by discharging a firearm within a motor vehicle
On September 12, 2023, deputies with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office found Mayberry shot to death and lying beside the roadway as they responded to Moore’s Gap Road. A warrant obtained by 6 News later revealed that Mayberry had been shot six times as she attempted to get out of the vehicle she was in with Dockery, who was her boyfriend.
After deputies found her body, they began investigating Mayberry’s death and, based on the evidence they obtained, they also began searching for her missing infant. Prosecutors said the manhunt led officers to find the missing child.
