ALCOA, Tenn. (WATE) — The Cusick Road ramp onto Pellissippi Parkway northbound is set to permanently close on Friday as work on the Alcoa Highway project continues.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation shared that Friday afternoon, the ramp would permanently close. Northbound drivers wanting to access Pellissippi Parkway can use the new Amazon Connector Road, which is immediately northeast of the existing ramp. The new traffic patterns will allow contractors to continue work on the Relocated Alcoa Highway project and will be in place through Fall 2027.
The Alcoa Highway project involves reconstructing and widening 13 miles of road across Knox and Blount counties. The $186 million project is the largest road project in state history. Currently, TDOT lists the end date for all seven phases as 2037.
This project has also seen two roundabouts open in 2026. In February, a roundabout opened on Cusick Road and Regal Drive and in July, a roundabout opened on Woodson Drive near Alcoa Highway.
