Manhattan Project park celebrates 10 years with free Oak Ridge events

Everyone is invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Manhattan Project National Historical Park’s creation on April 30. A special ceremony and reception are planned, along with free activities throughout the city.

There will be free admission to museums in Oak Ridge, including the American Museum of Science and Energy, Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge, K-25 Atomic History Center, New Hope Center, and Oak Ridge History Museum. National park staff and volunteers will be at the local museums, according to a news release from Explore Oak Ridge, which promotes tourism.

There will also be a free showing of “Oppenheimer” at the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge. The Oscar-winning movie tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and the creation of the first atomic bombs during the Manhattan Project…
