Suspects arrested after bayou pursuit in Louisiana

BREAUX BRIDGE, LA. (KLFY) — On foot pursuit involving one suspect jumping into bayous lead to two arrests, St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Brock Robin, 38, of Breaux Bridge was arrested and charged with the following:

  • one count possession with intent to distribute schedule I narcotics
  • two counts of possession with intent to distribute schedule II narcotics
  • one count of possession with intent to distribute schedule III narcotics
  • one count of possession with intent to distribute schedule IV narcotics
  • one count of Sales, distribution or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited
  • one count of possession of drug paraphernalia

Corie Begnaud, 35, of St. Martinville was arrested and charged with:

  • aggravated flight from an officier
  • violations of registration provisions (switched plates)
  • tail lamps

According to St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, during an attempted traffic stop in the 2000 block of Cecilia Senior High School Highway shortly on June 1 around 9:30 a.m. The driver, later identified as Brock Robin allegedly failed to stop and fled, leading deputies on a pursuit. Deputies said Robin was wanted on an active arrest warrant stemming from multiple narcotics charges.

Deputies reported that Robin later crashed his vehicle at the roundabout in Hendeson but continued onto I-10 before pulling over and jumping into a nearby pond to evade deputies.

Later on, deputies reported Robin had been allegedly spotted running along Anse Broussard Highway. When deputies intercepted him at the intersection of Anse Broussard Highway and Kathleen Drive, Robin jumped into Bayou Teche and swam across, prompting deputies to establish a perimeter and search the area…
