Lafayette names interim OHSEP director, begins search for permanent replacement

Lafayette Consolidated Government has begun the search for a new director of the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness following the departure of Chad Sonnier, who was recently appointed Louisiana state fire marshal by Gov. Jeff Landry.

Effective immediately, Chief of Staff Christina Dayries will serve as interim OHSEP director while the administration conducts its search.

Sonnier led the department’s transition into a standalone office and oversaw changes to the parish’s emergency management program, including restructuring emergency operations, adopting the Emergency Support Function model and expanding emergency planning and training efforts…
