Former school board member faces additional shoplifting charges from Carencro stores, police say

A former Lafayette Parish School Board member who resigned after being accused of shoplifting has been arrested on more complaints of theft.

Chad Desormeaux was arrested Sunday by Carencro police on two charges of theft, according to records from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Desormeaux, who resigned the day after he was cited last week for shoplifting from the self-checkout station at Super 1 Foods in Carencro, was charged with one count of felony theft and another count of misdemeanor theft, according to Carencro Police Chief David Anderson…
